Drivec Safety was launched just over two years ago – and is already being used in more than 4,500 vehicles.
“The system has proven to be a valuable tool for bus drivers, among other things. It helps reduce stress along their routes,” says Philip Holmqvist, Product Owner for Drivec Safety.
Drivec Safety analyses speeding across vehicle fleets and helps make journeys safer for both drivers and passengers. The system makes changes in driving behaviour visible quickly.
“You can use a heatmap to see where vehicles most frequently exceed the speed limit. Speed compliance and high-risk compliance – where drivers are travelling fast enough that they would lose their licence if stopped – are two of the most widely used features,” says Philip Holmqvist.
Drivec’s road database contains speed limits for roads throughout Europe. Position and speed data are reported to Drivec Cloud and compared against the applicable speed limits every day.
Since 2025, the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) has required reporting of speed compliance for transport services carried out under contracts. Every supplier needs a solution that records and stores speed data throughout a journey.
“With Drivec Safety, we’ve made it easy to report this data. It only takes the press of a button,” says Philip Holmqvist.
Drivec Safety is currently used mainly in buses, but new versions for trucks and passenger cars are in development.
“We always work closely with our customers when developing our products, to make sure they are as well adapted to their needs as possible. For passenger cars and trucks, we have now, among other things, made Drivec Safety easier to install,” says Philip Holmqvist.
