Safe and comfortable journeys with Drivec

– Through Drivec’s system and follow-up, drivers receive support in planning their driving. This contributes to a safe and comfortable journey for our passengers, says Anna Ståhl, Training Manager at Vy.

Vy Buss is a Norwegian-owned company that operates in both Norway and Sweden. Their buses run both public transport (local buses) and commercial services (for example airport buses). In Sweden, around 1,500 of their drivers use buses equipped with Drivec’s systems for fuel-efficient driving (Ecodriving) and vehicle health management (VHM).

– We have an established setup with Drivec. When launching new depots, Drivec usually starts with a theory day together with managers and instructors, where they demonstrate how the system works. The following day, managers and instructors are out on the bus getting hands-on experience with the digital tools. All new drivers receive both theoretical and practical training from our instructors when they are hired, says Anna Ståhl.

Planning your driving

At Vy, Anna Ståhl is responsible for training 35 instructors who work on teaching drivers to drive more efficiently. This includes achieving smooth driving by maintaining speed and minimizing braking, as well as planning the journey—thinking through the route before starting. Vy has also developed its own training materials tailored specifically for their drivers.

– Drivec’s systems are very useful tools for us. They are pedagogical, easy to use, and provide clear results that allow us to follow up on each bus. However, for drivers to succeed, it is important to create interest and curiosity around the systems so they see that their driving behavior can be influenced and that it makes a difference, says Anna Ståhl.

Driving more economically in private life

In addition to a better work environment, more satisfied passengers, reduced stress, and commonly mentioned benefits of Ecodriving and VHM (lower fuel consumption, reduced wear and tear, fewer damages), Vy has noticed a somewhat unexpected bonus effect among its drivers.

– Many say they have started driving more economically even in their private cars, says Anna Ståhl.

Drivec’s approach toward Vy is that everyone in the bus company should be able to contribute suggestions for improvements. This mindset has also resulted in many new solutions, including a shared parameter for all fuel types and a map function directly connected to the Swedish Transport Administration.

– It is rewarding to work so closely with employees at Vy who use our systems every day. Together, we continuously develop both Ecodriving and our VHM system so that Vy can get the most out of them, says Oskar Svensson, Customer Success Manager at Drivec.
